SOUTHWEST MICHIGAN -- Multiple locations of Four Winds Casinos remain open Monday afternoon amid closures across the state of other venues because of coronavirus.

The casinos, with Michigan locations in New Buffalo, Dowagiac and Hartford as well as South Bend, Indiana, remain open as of noon Monday, March 16, according to spokesman Joshua Taustein.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer issued an executive order Monday to temporarily close dine-in services at all bars and restaurants while also shutting down theaters, fitness centers and various other public spaces in response to the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak.

The executive order does not apply to tribal casinos. Four Winds is owned by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians.

The governor previously ordered all K-12 schools closed and banned gatherings of over 250 to limit community spread of the infectious respiratory disease. State officials confirmed 53 total cases of people who tested positive for coronavirus as of March 15.

Both Firekeepers Casino Hotel in Battle Creek and Gun Lake Casino near Wayland are closed to help fight the spread of coronavirus.

Four Winds Casinos did implement changes to the buffet and food services and canceled multiple events at the casinos because of the virus, according to an update on the casino website.

The Buffet at both the New Buffalo and South Bend locations is closed starting Monday. There will be modified dining services within the W-Club Players Lounges at Four Winds New Buffalo and Four Winds South Bend. Salad bar and desserts will be pre-portioned and the buffet will be served by culinary staff, the casinos said.

There will be no live entertainment at the Hard Rock Cafe and C Bar at Four Winds New Buffalo and Kankakee Grille at Four Winds South Bend.

The casinos will also be reducing seating at slots, table games and bar areas to help meet social distancing protocols recommended by the CDC.

The casinos also canceled performances at Four Winds New Buffalo’s Silver Creek Event Center and Four Winds South Bend. The performances will be rescheduled and refunds are available through point-of-sale.

Melissa Etheridge, The Medicine Tour, 9 p.m. March 28

South Bend Brew Hop, 3 p.m. March 29

Aaron Lewis, State I’m in Tour, 9 p.m. April 4
